*WINTER ORDINANCE ENFORCEMENT* Posted on 11/01/2006

The winter ordinance regarding snow removal and parking on the roadway will be enforced beginning November 1 through March 31.  Officers will be issuing warnings and tickets for violations.  During snow emergencies no vehicles are allowed to be parked on the street.

*SNOW BIRDS* Posted on 11/01/2006

During the winter months when the snow birds head south, the Croswell Police Department offers to make property checks on homes until the snow birds return in the spring.  We ask that you call the office or stop in to fill out a form with information to assist us in checking your property and information on who to contact if there is a problem.

*INTERNET SCAM* Posted on 11/01/06

Our department has been notified of computer crimes being committed against residents and people in the area of Croswell.  Identity Theft and Fraud are the two most prominent crimes being committed at this time.  Protect yourself.  Never give personal information to someone online or on the phone.

There have been recent cases where items have been placed for sale on the Internet and a buyer has sent a check for payment of the items to the seller.  Once the seller deposits the check in the bank but before the bank can clear the check, the buyer contacts the seller asking to have some of the money returned.  This enables the buyer to obtain the seller's bank account information and to withdraw money from the seller's account.

*FREE GUN LOCKS*

As part of our involvement in Project Child Safe, we are giving out free gun locks.  If you would like a free gun lock, please stop into our office Monday through Friday 8 AM-4 PM.  If you cannot make it during these times, contact our department at 810-679-2200 before stopping by to see if an officer will be in the Office to assist you.

Remember, if you never entered a contest, then you shouldn't be a winner.  If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  NEVER give out social security number, driver license number, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, or any other information that could be used to steal your identity.
